silica geranium

Silicon (Si) and germanium (Ge) are chemical elements in group 4 (or 14 depending on the classification system used) of the periodic table; both of these elements are semiconductors.

In current times silicon is the basis for much electronics technology (famously being made into chips), but germanium was also investigated for its potential role in the early days of development in semiconductor electronics.

I have passions for glass (which is largely made from silica, silicon dioxide) and geraniums, which inspired this series of polaroids.
